How to Choose Filter Bags for Cement Plants: Raw Mill, Clinker Cooler & Kiln

Comprehensive engineering guide for modern 2500–10000 t/d dry process cement lines. Matches optimal filter media, surface treatments, and air-to-cloth ratios across all major emission collection points.

A modern dry-process cement manufacturing plant operates diverse dust collection baghouses, each characterized by radically different gas temperatures, humidity levels, and dust abrasiveness.

1. Kiln Tail Exhaust (窑尾烟气除尘)

The cement kiln tail exhaust represents the most demanding filtration point. Gas temperatures typically range from 160°C to 200°C (with peaks up to 240°C during raw mill stoppage). The gas contains sulfur dioxide (SO₂), nitrogen oxides (NOx), and residual moisture. Polyphenylene Sulfide (PPS) with PTFE surface lamination or high-temperature composite blends (FMS/P84/PTFE) are standard. Recommended air-to-cloth ratio: 0.8–0.95 m/min.

2. Clinker Cooler Exhaust (窑头篦冷机)

Clinker cooler exhaust air consists of hot secondary ambient cooling air carrying extremely abrasive clinker dust particles. Operating temperatures typically sit between 180°C and 230°C. Media requires exceptional abrasion resistance and tensile modulus. Woven fiberglass with PTFE finish, Fluorine Membrane Synthetic (FMS), or Aramid needle felt are standard. Air-to-cloth ratio: 0.8–1.0 m/min.

3. Coal Grinding Mill (煤磨系统)

Pulverized coal dust presents high fire and explosion risks (Class St 1/St 2 dust). Baghouses must utilize static-dissipative antistatic filter bags with interwoven stainless steel or carbon fibers to safely bleed electrostatic charges to ground. Anti-static polyester or acrylic with water/oil repellent finish is benchmark.

4. Cement & Raw Material Grinding (水泥磨与生料磨)

Operating temperatures are moderate (80–110°C) with elevated moisture from material drying. Heavy-duty 550g/m² polyester (PET) needle felt with singed, calendered, and water/oil-repellent fluorocarbon treatment provides optimum cost-performance ratio.
